Abstract

Literature serves as a mirror of time that vividly captures and reflects the life of the Tamil people. Sangam literature, which includes both Ettuthokai (Eight Anthologies) and Pathuppāu (Ten Idylls), is a great gift bestowed upon the Tamils. Likewise, the ancient grammatical treatise Tolkāppiyam is worthy of high praise. This article seeks to explain how the eight types of Meippādu described by Tolkappiyar are recorded and reflected in the verses of Kalithogai.
