Abstract

Among the various traditional art forms, Karakattam is one of the most important. Karakattam is a traditional art form of the Tamil people. This art form is performed prominently in various parts of Tamil Nadu. However, in the present day, this art form is slowly fading away due to social media. The Karakattam artists are also struggling to make a living. The Tamil Nadu government should provide various welfare schemes to the Karakattam artists and take steps to improve their livelihood. Furthermore, by creating awareness among the people about the importance of the Karakattam art form, it should be revived, and opportunities should be created for Karakattam artists not only in the Thanjavur region but also in other parts of Tamil Nadu, giving them a new lease on life.
