Abstract

External evidence such as inscriptions, copper plates, and other artifacts serve as proof of the existence of the ancient Tamils. The inscriptions engraved on such stone tablets provide a wealth of information about the language of the period in which they were inscribed, the scribes, the society, and much more. Various writing systems such as Tamil-Brahmi, Vatteluttu, and Tamil are found. In this regard, This research paper examines the Vatteluttu script (inscriptions, hero stones) of Tirupattur district from a grammatical perspective.
