Abstract

The Eelam Tamils possess distinctive cultural aspects. At the same time, they also exhibit unique cultures related to regional units. The customs related to agricultural occupation in the Batticaloa region, located in the eastern province of Eelam, serve as excellent examples of such regional unit-based culture. This article aims to document these customs, which form the primary components of Eelam Tamil cultural heritage, and to discuss their social value and deterioration.
