Abstract

Neelavanan, who is considered one of the pioneers in the development of modern Tamil poetry in Sri Lanka, hails from Eastern Sri Lanka. In this regard, Eastern Sri Lanka holds a distinctive place. Following Neelavanan, Pandiyuran stands as one of the poets who carried forward the tradition of modern poetry in the East. No studies have been undertaken on Pandiyuran so far. This serves as the first study on Pandiyuran’s poetry. This research examines the poems of Pandiyuran, a Tamil teacher who was born in Pandiruppu in Eastern Sri Lanka, and aims to highlight the uniqueness of his poetry.
