Uses of Crops as Known ThroughSangam Literature

Abstract
Ancient Tamils were people who lived in harmony with nature. They divided their lives into inner life (akam) and outer life (puram). Inner life refers to love life. Outer life refers to heroic life. In both these lives, crops were extensively used by the Tamils. After water resources, the wealth that is mentioned next in the world is agricultural wealth. Crops flourished as everything in the life of Sangam Tamils. That is why Sangam Tamils delightfully named the lands they lived in after flowers: Kurinji, Mullai, Marudham, and Neidhal. The aim of this article is to explain through Sangam literature how crops were used in various ways in the life of Sangam Tamils
