Abstract

Tamil literature exists in various forms from the Sangam period to the present day. Literature reflects human life. By studying literature, we can understand the living conditions of people of that era. When people deviate from their way of life, the texts that emerged to provide appropriate ideas and guide them are called ethical literature or moral literature. Among the ethical texts that arose to guide people on the right path, countless ornaments (anis) are mentioned in Thirukkural. However, this article will examine what other ethical texts besides that work mention as ornaments, and will also look at information about ornaments that appear in the structure of literary embellishments and their meaningful beauty, rather than discussing the grammatically defined ornaments.
