Abstract

Among the five types of periods, the Sangam period is considered the golden age. The customs of the people of that time gradually gained good reputation and became traditions. Since the remnants of the golden age people are today revered as culture, it is appropriate to call that period the golden age.

Among the life cycle rituals of Tamil people from birth to death, the most distinguished and auspicious ritual is the marriage ceremony. Marriage plays an important role in every human life. It would not be an exaggeration to say that many people's lives begin only after marriage
