Abstract

This article presents the poetic world of poet Sakthijothi through her first five collections of poems: NilamPugumSorkal (2008), KadaloduIsaitthal (2009), EnakkaanaAagayam (2010), KaatrilMithakkumNeelam (2011), and Thee UrangumKaadu (2012). Though these early poems can be categorized as love poetry, the language she chooses to express that love is characteristic of Sangam poets. She conveys her feelings of love through lamentation, which is the essence of the Neithalthinai (landscape), as well as through passionate, yearning expressions and the pain of separation. This poetic voice aligns with that of Sangam women poets.
