Cultural Practices Found in Tamil Literature

Abstract
This article explores the rich cultural heritage and values of the Tamil people during the Sangam period. It highlights the Tamil people's profound wisdom, artistic talents, strong ethics, and noble traditions. The article elaborates on the concept of culture as a combination of beliefs, customs, social laws, rituals, politics, attire, festivals, food, and entertainment unique to a people. It emphasizes the inclusive and cosmopolitan mindset of the Tamils, their renowned hospitality, generosity, social harmony, and deep respect for traditions inherited over two millennia. The continuity and preservation of Tamil cultural identity through literature, poetry, and social practices are stressed. The article also touches on Tamil resistance to external cultural impositions, social unity, and the role of culture in shaping Tamil identity, encouraging vigilance in passing down these values to future generations.
