வைரமுத்துவின் படைப்புலகம்
Abstract
Born in a small village in Tamil Nadu and rising to become a world-renowned and celebrated poet, Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu has made remarkable contributions across various literary fields—poetry, film lyrics, novels, short stories, prose, and public oratory. Through his songs, he has secured a lasting place in the hearts of Tamils living across the globe. He has created many timeless works that have adorned and enriched Mother Tamil, standing as ornaments that will not fade with time. His works have also been included with pride in university syllabi. This article aims to highlight the distinctive features of the creative world of such an eminent and distinguished poet. Vairamuthu was born on 13 July 1953 to Ramasamy Thevar and Angammal in a simple farming family in the small village of Mettur, located in what is today the Theni district of Tamil Nadu. In 1957, due to the construction of the Vaigai Dam, fourteen villages located in the reservoir area were evacuated by the government. As a result, he, along with his parents and siblings, left their native land and resettled in the village of Vadugappatti, migrating like refugees in independent India.
