Abstract
Contemporary literary works often center around various social issues. Among these, highlighting feminist issues has become particularly essential today. Although feminism has been emerging and evolving over thousands of years, patriarchal societies have repeatedly obstructed its full realization. Women, oppressed by men, face countless challenges—both overtly and subtly. Society also expects women to forfeit their self-respect and self-awareness. Amid these expectations, women become entangled in multiple difficulties and often struggle to reclaim their lives. The novel Oodum Nadhi Puthinam portrays these struggles realistically. Through the lens of feminism, the novel examines the challenges faced by women, categorizing them into societal issues, familial issues, and sexual issues. It thus serves as a critical study of the lived experiences of women in contemporary society.
