Abstract

The people of the Sangam period lived in harmony with nature and regarded agriculture and natural produce as divine. Certain customs and practices developed based on religious beliefs and social traditions. Some practices were influenced by faith and cultural norms, shaping their dietary habits. The aim of this article is to study and analyze the food habits of ancient Tamils, exploring how their diet reflected the environment, social structures, and spiritual beliefs of the Sangam era.
