Abstract

Through various genres of classical Tamil literature, one can clearly understand the different aspects of life, such as morality (aram), wealth (porul), pleasure (inbam), lifestyle, arts, culture, civilization, environmental stewardship, and science. Ancient Tamil literature contains widespread scientific thoughts and concepts, which often serve as precursors to many modern scientific discoveries. The aim of this article is to examine how scientific knowledge was recorded and developed in Silappathikaram, illustrating the advanced understanding of natural and social phenomena reflected in this classical text.
