Abstract

Even though human societies lived in diverse communities for various reasons, festivals served as occasions that united them. It is natural for humans, after a year of labor, to seek joy during leisure. In Tamil Nadu, festivals have been celebrated for over two thousand years. Societal changes have given rise to new festivals as well. Through these festivals, both art and cultural experiences flourish. Festivals are not only occasions for enjoyment but also act as catalysts for the growth of art. All festivals are closely associated with temples: a temple implies a festival, and a festival implies a temple. They serve not only religious purposes but also promote artistic development, cultural bonds, and community cohesion. This article explores the significant festivals held in the Kalaiyarkovil region.
