Abstract

"Even if one seeks the deity who merges with Shiva, none can be found; Here, none stand united with Him." (Thirumandiram, Verse 4)

Siva Peruman, revered as the supreme deity of the Saiva tradition, possesses unmatched excellence. The Twelve Thirumurais celebrate the glory of Saivism and are known as devotional texts (Thodathira books). Following this period, Saiva philosophical concepts are elaborated in depth in Meykanda Saathiram, which is regarded as a doctrinal scripture. Among its fourteen texts is Thiruvarutpa, composed by Uma Pathi Sivachariyar of Chidambaram. This text effectively presents the Saiva philosophical threefold truths (Mupporul Unmaigal). The present article focuses on explaining some of these essential truths, highlighting their significance in understanding Saiva thought and practice.
