Abstract

Perungkanchi is a puratthurai (exterior theme) that speaks of understanding the philosophy of impermanence through the mind. Tolkapiyam states "Those who have spoken of the glory of death" (Puratthiṇaiyiyal.Sū.24), highlighting the impermanence of life. PuraporulVenpamalai mentions this principle of impermanence as "In this mountainous great land, the principle of impermanence was not expounded" (Pu.Ve.Ma.Kanchippothu.3)
