Abstract

Brahmanda Purana Kathyam is a Puranic story written in prose in the Malayalam language. Its author is Niranam Kavigal Ramapanikkaru. This book is stated at the end of this Purana to have been written on the 20th day of Dhanu month in Kollam year 648 (1473 CE). However, there are differing opinions regarding the author and period of this book. This book begins with the story of Pururava and Urvashi. Its main sections include the story of Kartavirya and Parashurama, the story of Prahlada and Mahabali, the story of Sagara's sons, the establishment of Bhadra Deep, the origin of Kerala, and others.
