Abstract
Ancient Tamils excelled in hospitality. They prepared delicious varieties of food for guests who came seeking them and entertained them with feasts. Whatever food they ate, they would not hide it but would give it to their guests and also eat joyfully themselves. The Pattupattu (Ten Songs) elaborately describes the food habits and customs of the Tamils and their culture of hospitality.
