Abstract

From ancient times to the present, wealth has been an indispensable necessity of human life. It can be said that without wealth, life cannot flourish. In Tamil culture, the duty of earning wealth falls upon men. In the Sangam period, men in Tamil society held the chief responsibility of protecting the family. The disciplined leader who protects the family until the end goes in search of wealth both to marry the woman he desires in his love life and to live a good life during the virtuous life after marriage. For such a life, dharma (righteousness), artha (wealth), and kama (pleasure) are all essential necessities.
