Abstract

In Silappathikaram, the Vanjikandam tells the events of the hill country. There are also many upcountry stories in Silambam which tells us about the spread of Kannagi worship in the hill country. The kannagi worship described in the Silappathikaram Vanjikandam is still followed and presented as oral customs among the Tamil and Malayalam folk.
