Abstract

In Tamil culture, temples with towers that touch the sky are a symbol of culture. The temple that rises up like a cloud crawling through it is Thiruvarangam, one of the Divyadesamasof Tirumal. This is a symbol of the bond that Vaishnavism has with the Tamil soil. Another manifestation of this bond is the Azhwars and their acts of grace, the Prabandhas. The next stage in the Tamil chronology after the Bhakti literary period is the Chitrilakiya period. During the Bhakti literary period, the Azhwars and Nayanmars contributed to the flourishing of Chitrilakiyam. The purpose of this article is to examine the Andathi works included in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham compiled by Nathamuni.
