Abstract

Nature and spirituality are intertwined. The Siddhars sought spirituality through nature. Spirituality is related to the inner self. It rejects impurity. Those with inner purity were considered to possess divine grace. Ethical texts emerged to refine the inner self. Righteousness functioned based on justice. Justice texts also revered the divine. Figures like Avvai, Athiveerarama Pandiyan, and Ulaganathar revered the divine through ethics. On the other hand, individuals like Vivekananda, Bharathi, Vallalar, and Adi Shankarar did not emphasize idol worship. They perceived the divine through inner purity, compassion for living beings, and equality.
