Shadows Embedded in the History of Tamizhan + Musalpani = Thekimolakkal (Eelam Tamils)

Abstract

No matter how many eras pass, the cries of Tamil kin who perished in Eelam, and the ruins caused by the explosions of bombs, continue to echo constantly in our stream of thought. In this context, the battle between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lankan Army reached its peak in 2009. Since the eruption of the Eelam struggle, indiscriminate bombings from aircraft and direct attacks with artillery shells killed countless people. Consequently, the identities of the Eelam Tamils were reduced to ashes. The tragedies of the Eelam people, the erasure of their identities, and the atrocities inflicted upon them are brought out through the two novels Shadows Embedded in History and Musalpani. This paper attempts to explore and present these aspects as portrayed in the novels.
