Abstract

Every couplet in Thirukkural that deals with politics is like a seed. These couplets reflect Thiruvalluvar’s vision of politics and the expectations he held in his mind regarding governance. Such couplets should not only be praised verbally; politicians and others associated with them must actively follow and implement the principles praised in the text. Doing so ensures the welfare of the nation and the betterment of governance.
