Abstract

In a human existence filled with stories, a question arises: Which stories does the writer attempt to bring forth through the medium of imagination? Stories, which are endless through the path of memory, give meaning to each individual’s existence. The emotions that stories evoke as they penetrate bodies-celebration, pain, cruelty, ecstasy-are significant. The experiences that the creator’s mind gathers and translates into new narratives form the core of these stories.

Can it be said that the essence of G. Murugan’s storytelling lies in portraying how people suffer, caught in endless riddles or sorrows that go beyond the spatial boundaries of village and city? This is something that needs reflection. Unlike conventional realist fiction, Murugan writes stories that may appear pretentious but, through them, attempts to present something else entirely.
