Abstract

In Kalippa, the Venpaurichir (fixed parts of Venpa meter) should be arranged dominantly. Tholkappiyar emphasizes that only Neerittuiyarchi (a type of natural flowing sound) and Iraimudhal (a melodic component) are exceptions among other irachirs (metrical elements). Vanchichir (errors or slight deviations) are slightly mixed in. Kalithal (a particular variation of the meter) is essential for this form. It is understood that disturbances caused by other metrical elements are limited and that the prominence of other elements indicates complexity in the pattern. This account aligns with traditional Tamil grammatical and poetic norms as given in classical literature
