Abstract
After the rule of the Cholas in Tamil Nadu, chaos began to arise due to lack of power. The decline of the Pandyas prevailed as Hoysala influence. A country that was restless until the rise of the Vijayanagara state in Andhra, the Nayaks usurped power in Madurai when the whole of South India came under Vijayanagara rule. Chola Nadu, a part of Tanjore, was also under the rule of the Nayaks. By chance, the Tanjore region was ruled by the Marathas by interfering in the conflict between the Nayaks of Tanjore and Madurai. From 1676 to 1855 various inscriptions refer to the Marathas of Tanjore. In particular, this article explains the antiquity of three inscriptions found at Pudhalur in Thanjavur and Muthammalchatram near Orathanadu and the historical messages it mentions.
